No burden to listen to this one.

Burden | artist: Obsidian Urn — The big sludgey riffs hang around like overtaxed storm clouds casting slowly shifting shadows on whatever is below. The drums swing back and forth. There is space — as in a spatial physical place — imbued in these recordings. One feels as if in the midst of it all. The desiccated and amp torn sustain on "Oathing" occasionally weaves into the vocal growl. They become entwined. Strangling one another. The amp noise at the beginning of "Where Root and Rock Unfurl" rattles like the wing of a bat three days dead. A bat wing hung as a totem above a screen door that looks out to overgrowth under that dark, slowly lumbering storm cloud. | Released on Realm and Ritual | 3.75 out of 5 stars.
